Gap Year and Semester: Beijing
CSL’s Gap Year and Semester Programs are catered toward students and recent graduates looking for a unique adventure before starting their first year of university. They are a great way to gain valuable insight outside the classroom and can afford you the experience that no other summer course or three month internship could ever provide. You have the option to join a full or part-time language course with professionally licensed instructors, volunteer with a local charity, teach English, or simply live with a family and soak up the culture. Whichever path you choose, CSL will be there to help every step of the way.

The options are virtually endless, but the objective is simple: to immerse and improve yourself as a global citizen, meet new and interesting people, and broaden your horizons. Ideal candidates include those students looking to explore new cultures and landscapes, expand their intellectual perspectives, develop respect and admiration for other countries, and become responsible global citizens. The typical program includes:
    • Mandarin study at a local school in Beijing
    • English teaching internship
    • Volunteer work and local projects
    • Housing and meals with local families or in dorms
    • City and program orientation
    • Local, experienced guides to provide supervision and support
    • 24-hr. emergency support
    • Weekly cultural activities and monthly excursions
